Warrior
EXTENDED APPEARANCE:
PERSONALITY:Fennelwhisker is a slender, beautiful she-cat and she knows it. Her legs are long and powerful – the legs of a practiced swimmer – and her body moves with the sinewy, graceful step of a confident warrior. Her thick coat is kitten-soft to the touch – and while it may not provide her with much defense against the weather, it helps her glide through the water, and possesses the healthy sheen that only fish-eaters can keep up. The rich golden-brown col0r of her pelt is splotched with spotted-tabby markings made up of broken stripes and swirls along her body in a rich dark brown. Her long muzzle ends in a white chin and a blossom of drooping white whiskers (matched by those above her eyes). Her almond-shaped eyes are framed in dark brown, making them stand out, a bright, clear yellow.
FAMILY:Fennelwhisker is a confident, charismatic cat – but she’s also extremely dependent on attention. She likes to know cats like her, and she’ll do everything she can to impress them – even if that is simply flaunting her beauty or making them laugh. She is rather vain because of this though (for all the attention she does receive), and she has a nasty habit of looking down on anyone else who doesn’t reach her level. Fennelwhisker works hard to be a strong, valuable warrior of WildClan, and has no qualms about getting down and dirty to do what is required of her, but she also tends to focus almost single-mindedly on the things she likes to do. In most cases, that means she’s out hunting far more than she’s out patrolling borders – and also means that if it’s possible, she’s out fishing.
Fennelwhisker’s RiverClan blood is unmistakable; she doesn’t entirely care about what that says about her, but she adores the water, and can’t understand her clanmates who avoid it. Because of this, she’s been drawn into the circle of clan cats who think WildClan should separate – like it had so very many, many moons ago. She has been tentively involved in the whispers (after all, she enjoys the gossip…), but is wary of their idea. Despite her wish to be the center of attention, she has matured enough in her years as a warrior to not jump into everything head first. If the “separatists” did try to rebel against WildClan and failed… she doesn’t want to be associated with them in the least.
Ottertail, mother, deceased; Maplefoot, father, 62 moons, elder;
Dawnkit, sister, deceased.
HISTORY:
CBOX NAME:Little Fennelkit and her sister Dawnkit were the first – and only – litter of their young parents. In fact, the bright, promising Ottertail died hardly six moons into her own warrior-ship. Her body was simply too small and unprepared for the burden of a birthing – and her second-born daughter Dawnkit died a mere week later of malnourishment. For at that unfortunate time, there were no other queens to nurse the motherless kits – and try as he might, the medicine cat was unable to get the smaller she-kit to survive on herbs and various other concoctions. But Fennelkit was hardier – she clung to life with a vitality that surprised everyone, and that managed to pull her father through the loss of his mate. Maplefoot became a very hands-on father – he kept a close watch on Fennelkit as she slept, and played with her through the days. He taught her minor training techniques, and told her elder stories, and spoiled her as much as any kitten can be spoiled.
Fennelkit soaked up the attention like a sponge. She absolutely loved it whenever she made her father happy – so she was constantly trying to do better in their playfights and get the best of him. She would often bring him things she had found around the camp (moss balls, pretty pebbles, and the like), and repeat back to him the stories that either he or the clan elders had told her – elated when he praised her. She hardly realized she was “that poor kit who lost her mother” because she had never known Ottertail. In her opinion, her life was fine and dandy, just as it should be.
When Fennelpaw became an apprentice, her thirst for knowledge (and attention) didn’t falter in the least. Her mentor, Sparrowtail, embraced the eager apprentice, and taught her well. Fennelpaw’s apprentice-hood was about as simple and streamlined as a cat’s could get – she didn’t exactly excel at everything she tried her paws at, but when she did find something she enjoyed, she focused almost blindly on that until Sparrowtail forced her to move on. In this way she became an excellent hunter and fisher, but faltered in her fighting training. In her opinion, she was good enough to serve the clan, and she was as good as she was going to get – which frustrated both her mentor and her father.
However, she managed to hone her skills just enough to earn her warrior name on time – and once little Fennelwhisker joined the warrior’s den, she blossomed. She had already been a popular apprentice – friends with both those older and younger than her. And as she aged, she grew into her long legs and the lean muscles her training had built. It was hard to deny that she was a beautiful she-cat – and she enjoyed that fact once it was brought to her attention. She never settled down with anyone to have kits, though – she thought her time was better spent working for the clan, and she was too restless to spend moons in the nursery.
She has not had much of importance happen since she entered the warrior’s den. She has aged, trained an apprentice (little Acorn-nose), watched her father retire and join the elder’s den, and enjoyed a social and pleasant life as far as clan cats go. All Fennelwhisker hopes for is to continue on like she already has.
